The Tram Fights On Without Government Subsidy ![]() Fare-box support: When compared with transit systems in other major cities, as well as with New York City's overall system, Roosevelt Island's Aerial Tramway scores high in the share of its operating cost covered by passenger fares. Except for the Tramway, the rest of each system's operating budget comes from tax dollars appropriated to subsidize it.
