The Trip to the Hospital
by Djordje Vuckovic
Class 301, PS/IS 217

Today my class and I went on a trip, but not just any trip.  We went to the "New York Children's Hospital" in Queens.  It was a very special trip because we saved money from the "Penny Harvest."  We used it to buy books at Barnes & Noble for the children in the hospital.  So today we went to bring the books for the children.  It was not just any trip because what we did was very special.  It brought lots of happiness to the sick children in the hospital.

When we got to the hospital, they had many things planned for us.  First, they took us into the auditorium and gave each of us a folder with things in it.  Each folder contained a certificate, a "Prescription for Reading," a book, and a coloring book which had real facts about immunization.  Then, they gave us a box with a few bandages and either a nurse hat with words, "Future Nurse" or something that you put around your head with words, "Future Doctor."  Next, a woman read a book to us about a bear named Corduroy.  Last came my favorite part.  It was when we watched the clown.  She was so funny, she knew lots of tricks, and she even painted our faces or gave us a balloon.

After we left the hospital, we went to the pizzeria.  There I ate two slices of pizza.  Then after all of us finished, Mrs. Berman gave out the little green toys left for us by the doctors in the hospital.  That was what happened on the trip.
