Dec. 17-31, 2005

Assault

12/24, foyer, entrance apt., 540 Main St.  Officers responded to apt. from anonymous person for a dispute with injuries.  At scene, responding officers saw victim #1 with large, deep lacerations to torso, victim #2 with smaller laceration to same location. Male #1 stated he answered the door to be met by a male resident who stabbed him.  When victim #2 tried to assist him, he too was stabbed.  Male perp fled towards unknown direction, 911 was notified for NYPD/EMS response.  NYPD officers  responded, victim #1 provided some details of perp.  PSD, NYPD Officers conducted a search of Eastwood with negative results.  Victims were transported to Elmhurst Hospital by EMS.  NYPD 114th Pct. Detective Squad responded, was given all available details.

Trespass

12/29, stairwell, 546 Main St.  Arrest.  While on walk-through patrol by Senior Center, officer heard voices at rear stairwell, requested assistance.  Two females, one male fled; but a male, female were apprehended. Female complained of having injured knee, EMS was requested, responded; female was transported to NY Hospital. Both perps were issued þCþ summonses.

Criminal mischief

12/26, 4th-fl. hall, Q stairs, 580 Main St.  Female phoned PSD, stated that while in her apt., she heard noise at the door.  Opened door and saw holiday decorations had been tampered with and three youths (13-16 years of age) running down hall towards Q stairwell.

12/28, 1st floor, 560 Main St.  Female in-house, said she sent one of her children to AVAC to dispose of trash, they smelled smoke coming from apt. door.  She investigated, found unknown person(s) had set a decoration on fire on outside of door.  Victim found a smoldering cigarette butt on floor.  Victim requested NYPD, 911 was notified.

Harassment

12/30, apt., 560 Main St.  Aggravated.  Female in-house, stated her ex- husband had had a dispute with another male claimed because of her; complainant also stated the former said he was going to þlight up her daughter.þ  Officers searched the area for perp without any success.  Female refused NYPD, but stated she would report it directly to them later.  Victim and perp have a past history of disputes.

Fire

12/17, apt., 580 Main St.  While on patrol, officer heard smoke alarm, smelled smoke, responded to apt.; rang bell, was admitted to apt. and put out grease fire.  FDNY, RIHM super responded.  There was no damage.

12/18, apt., 580 Main St.  Officer at Desk, heard fire alarm at apt., all officers responded, as well as RIHM super; they searched with negative results.

Alarm

12/23, bank, 619 Main St.  Resident in-house, reported that NY National Bankþs alarm was ringing, Sgt. responded, confirmed ATMþs alarm was ringing, but it was not usable, and machine was not damaged.

 

Dispute

12/23, front of lobby, 10 River Rd.  Concierge phoned PSD, stated that two males were engaged in dispute in lobby.  Victim was claiming that perp owed him US$30.00 for taxi fare. PSD, NYPD responded.  Concierge paid the fare to complainant.  Matter was settled.

12/29, Tram #2, 300 Main St.  Officers responded to tram for two males harassing tram operator.  Upon arrival, victim/perps  were arguing about lack of heat in cabin.  Tram supervisor was at scene.  All parties involved stated they would not press charges.

Domestic Dispute

12/20, apt., 531 Main St.  While patrolling, officers saw a 114th Pct. patrol car at scene.  Sgt. spoke with a Lt., who informed him they had a male perp in custody. Officer responded to apt., spoke with female victim.  She refused to elaborate on incident.

12/22, lobby, 40 River Rd.  Officer responded to call for domestic dispute, perp complained he was denied access to apt. he shares with girlfriend.  Perp, who smelled of alcohol, was escorted to apt., they saw key broken inside lock. NYPD responded, spoke with victim, male agreed to spend the night elsewhere.

Defective Door

12/30, exit staircase, 510 Main St.  Officer on patrol saw that street level exit door was wide open; notified RIHM service, handyman responded, corrected condition.  Door closes but remains ajar.

Found Property

12/22, Motorgate, 7-C, 688 Main St.  Officer on patrol observed two childrenþs school bags containing misc. items, but no identification.  They were brought to PSD and secured.

12/23, 10th floor, rear, 540 Main St.  Officer on patrol found a black/gold boyþs bicycle at scene.  Bicycle brought to PSD and secured.

12/24, bus stop, 543 Main St.  Male in-house, stated he had found cellular/camera phone at scene. Same was secured at PSD.

Gas Leak

12/22, apt., 556 Main St.  Officer responded to scene, there was a strong smell of gas; knocked on several doors, opened all hall windows.  RIHM super responded with service crew, conducted search, found apt. from where smell was emanating, and ventilated same.  Service personnel disconnected stove, capped gas line.  Grandson of tenant was cooking, burned food, grease covered pilot.  Super stated RIHM would replace or fix stove.

Graffiti

12/18, stairwell O-13, 560 Main St.  Officers were on patrol and observed graffiti beneath light fixture.  They conducted further search for persons or graffiti with negative results. RIHM to be informed.

Hazardous Condition

12/18, 4th-floor rear hall, 580 Main St.  Officer found a door swinging off its top hinges, notified RIHM. Super arrived, removed door, placed it in AVAC room as a precaution.

12/19, 4th-floor rear hall, 580 Main St.  Resident notified officer she had seen underage boy running with parent behind him, push door hard.  Door jammed in open position, notified Duty Officer  RIHM porter responded, corrected condition.  There were no injuries.

12/23, Motorgate 7-A, 688 Main St.  Officer observed exit sign swinging at 7-A level, informed Motorgate attendant who responded with tools and corrected condition.  Duty Officer was notified.

12/25, lobby, 546 Main St.  Officer saw that left side of entry door at scene was open because arm mechanism was broken.  RIHM handyman responded, corrected condition.

12/31, in front of 543 Main St.  While officer was patrolling, he observed four loose bricks, and one missing at scene, notified Duty Officer.  Sgt. responded, placed a cone on top of area and a Facilities Report filed. 

Investigation

12/18, Motorgate 3-A, 688 Main St.  Officer saw vehicle with dome lights on, and secure, valuables easily visible.  Misc. items i.e., check book, one pair of stereo headphones, etc. There was no sign of tampering.  Motorgate attendant notified.

12/23, hall door, 7 fl., 546 Main St.  Officer on patrol saw 7th-floor hall window cracked (door had past damage); officer notified Duty Officer  Sgt. responded.  Upon closing, door slams, which could have aggravated condition. RIHM serviceman responded, taped window.

12/23, apt., 540 Main St.  Male in-house, stated he wanted his spouse to stay away from him, showed officer an order of protection and she is not allowed to go to his apt.  Female lives in N.J., Sgt. contacted Willingboro Police Dept., 114th Pct., who would contact Sgt. later.  Male was advised to return the next day.  Copies of documents were surrendered to officer.

12/24, apt. door, 540 Main St., Fire.  PSD fire alarm ringing.  Officers, RIHM super responded, saw Christmas decorations on apt. door were on fire.  Windows were opened to clear smoke.

12/25, apt., 580 Main St.  Female phoned Duty Officer , stated she left her iron on (she was at 42 St., NY) and she wanted an officer and RIHM service personnel to respond to the apt., refusing to return to R.I.  Sgt. ordered an officer/service personnel to apt.  Latter refused to drill out top lock. There was no smell of smoke.  Matter to be referred to RIHM.

12/26, rear of 851 Main St.  Minister of church phoned PSD, requested an officer at church.  Upon arrival, officers were notified that unknown person had tampered with the WD electricity, disconnected the heater.  Minister thinks it was Gotham Construction, since a cable in the electric box led to the construction site.  Officer observed cable. Minister wanted report prepared, and stated he would contact Con Edison directly, as well as RIOC and Gotham on 12/27,  Officer referred reporter to Best Squad, and to 311.

12/28, at front door, 2 River Rd.  Female in-house, said she had heard loud banging at her door 0430 hours, but was too frightened to open door.  When complainant was leaving apt. in the morning, she noticed all decorations on the front door had been removed by unknown person(s).

12/29, hallway, 540 Main St.  Female phoned PSD, said that from 12/11 to 12/28, unknown person has been ringing her doorbell between 1:00 to 3:00 AM, and that she notified RIHM General Mgr.  Complainant then began talking about when she was in Army 60 years ago!

12/29, apt., 560 Main St.  Officers, EMS personnel responded to possible assault and/or sexual abuse.  Upon arrival, victim refused medical attention; denied having been raped/assaulted.  Victim was referred to PSD, NYPD or EMS if she wanted to report anything in the future.  NYPD responded, victim refused report.

12/30, PSD, 552 Main St.  NYPD Detective in-house, requesting information regarding Eastwood resident, on whom they have an open case with ACS for child endangerment.  Detective was referred to RIHM, they stated male moved out in July. 

Public Lewdness

12/30, elevator, 580 Main St.  Male phoned PSD on behalf of his sister, stated that while she was in elevator, male resident had exposed himself and rubbed against her; when victim exited, he followed her to the apt.  After exposing himself again, he left area.  Officers responded, searched area.  Concierge of Westview described clothing perp was wearing.  Complainant said she would contact NYPD directly.  Subsequently, victim in-house, stated she would call 114th Pct.

Missing/found youth

12/31, hallway, 576 Main St.  Male in-house, reported his underage son missing since 11:00 a.m.  Sgt. alerted all officers, notified NYPD, which responded.  PSD officer accompanied youthþs mother in search.  Youth was found in hallway, mother took charge of son.  Medical assistance was not necessary per youthþs parents.

Reckless Endangerment

12/22, sidewalk, front of 2/4 River Rd.  Male in-house, stated that while walking at scene, unknown person(s) threw bottle out of window, almost hitting him as it hit ground and broke. Officer stated he did not see any open windows or screens.

Smoke Condition

12/22, apt., 580 Main St.  Officer at scene for report of smoke condition.  RIHM super at scene, opened door, observed a pot of food burning, corrected condition.  Resident not home. Apt. was locked, secured by super.

12/31, apt., 546 Main St.  Officers responded to smoke condition with RIHM handymen.  There was no damage observed.  Resident reported no injuries.

Summons Service

12/22, apt., 580 Main St.  Officers responded to scene to serve a summons, petition and support to respondent.  Papers were served to his father. 

Trespass

12/22, lower lobby, 560 Main St.  Arrest.  Officers responded to report that group of teenagers was possibly smoking marijuana.  Upon arrival other youths fled, officers were able to apprehend male youth.  There was cigar fillings on floor, but no marijuana smell.  Youth was not in possession of marijuana, but was arrested for trespassing.

Unsecured Premises

12/17, apt., 510 Main St.  While on patrol, officers observed the door of apt. ajar.  Tried to get residentþs attention with negative results.  Officer noticed Duty Officer, requested supervisor, who responded with RIHM super, who entered and searched premises. Resident was home, he had been asleep.

Unsecured Vehicle

12/22, reserved #3574, 688 Main St.  PSD off-duty officer phoned Duty Officer, reported unsecured car.  Officers responded to scene, saw carþs driverþs side door and trunk open, with suitcase, documents in full view.  Motorgate personnel was notified, and car was secured.

Water Leak

12/27, apt., 516 Main St.  RIHM requested assistance to enter apt. for a water leak, officer responded to 516, apt. 146 with super and personnel from plumbing company.  No resident present.  Plumber removed part of wall and replaced pipes on wall.  Super secured apt.  RIHM took possession of apt., resident had abandoned same.
