July 1-18, 2005
Assault 7/17, west seawall, 40 River Rd., Male resident in-house, stated he had been assaulted earlier by male resident with whom he had had a dispute. Duty Officer dialed 911. NYPD responded, prepared report. Victim sustained several injuries to his face, complained his back hurt. PSD officers searched area with negative results. EMS transported victim to Mt. Sinai for treatment. Robbery 7/17, 560 Main St. Officer on patrol was flagged down by delivery man from China 1, who complained he had been robbed by three males at scene, who took US$10 worth of food and fled, after one of them punched him in the face. EMS responded but victim refused medical attention; NYPD did not respond. Officers searched area with negative results. NYPD subsequently responded and prepared report. 7/19, school, 645 Main St. Follow-up, Arrest by NYPD. Officer responded to Duty Officer call, regarding incident on Sunday night, 7/17. While en-route, officer observed male pointing urgently to school entrance. Officer inquired if it involved Sunday robbery þ male nodded "yes". They entered school, and victim pointed out an underage male youth. Youth was escorted to PSD Youth Officer's office; 911 was notified, 114th Pct. officers responded, arrest given to NYPD after interrogation. Burglary 7/13, apt., 516 Main St. Officers responded to scene, where male resident informed them he left for work in the morning, returned at about 3:15 p.m., and found the apt. completely ransacked. Drawers were pulled out of dressers, closet doors open, etc. Sneaker prints, smudge hand prints on furniture, etc. Several items were missing, among them a digital camera, valued at US$100., etc. NYPD responded, prepared report., Evidence Collection Team also responded. Trespass 7/13, Motorgate 7-A, 688 Main St. While on patrol officer observed several youths walking, looking into vehicles. When officer approached they fled, officer was able to detain one underage male, who was escorted to PSD, issued a Juvenile Report, released to his uncle. Criminal Mischief 7/1, lobby, 540 Main St. RIHM Super stated he had noticed lobby door was broken, there was glass on floor. Officers responded, searched area with negative results. Debris was cleaned. 7/1, stairs U, 580 Main St. Officer on vertical patrol observed a door ripped off at ground level. RIHM was notified, Super responded, corrected condition, door locked & secured. 7/2, Thrift/Fish Store, 520/530 Main St. Duty Officer reported that anonymous female reported having heard sound of windows breaking. Officers responded, conducted search of area with negative results. RIHM service men cleaned up debris from sidewalk. Outside contractor boarded up windows, to be fixed on Tuesday. RIOC Engineer notified. 7/3, comfort station, 750 Main St. Officers responded to scene to check area for barbeque. Upon arrival, they observed both restroom windows had been shattered. Broken beer bottles and cans, etc. strewn about area. RIOC to be notified. 7/3, hall/door, 510 Main St. Female in-house, stated unknown youths had kicked her door, broken the lock and peep-hole; 911 notified, NYPD responded prepared a report. RIHM to repair damage. 7/4, elev. #2, 580 Main St. Officers responding to noise complaint, noticed that lights were out in elevator. Apparently anonymous perp had cracked eight flourescent bulbs in four ceiling fixtures. Officers searched area for further damage with negative results. RIHM Super was notified. 7/12, storage shed, 750 Main St. Officer on patrol observed the storage shed doors appeared to have been kicked in, Duty Officer notified. It is not known what items may have been taken, if any. Officers searched area for perps. with negative results. 7/12, community room fence, 556 Main St. While officer was patrolling, officer observed a wooden slat on ground, notified Duty Officer, Sgt. responded, searched area þ found it had been removed from fence, placed same inside patio. Disorderly Conduct 7/3, sidewalk opposite 2/4 River Rd. Arrest. Officers on patrol saw a crowd and two males attempting to fight. As officers arrived, perp #2 began walking away, when perp #1 swung at him. Officers ordered him to cease and desist, perp #1 refused and began using foul language; he was taken into custody, issued four "C" summonses. Harassment 7/4, southgate, 1 Main St. Officer responded to scene for report, upon arrival male victim stated an unidentified individual had attempted to slide the gate at Southgate open. Complainant confronted the male, who stated he was authorized to be in area. The alleged perp used profanity and left scene. Complainant refused NYPD/EMS. Officer searched area with negative results. 7/9, Gristede's, 686 Main St. Anonymous female phoned PSD, to report a "possible" fight at scene. Officer responded, security guard complained that male resident, who was intoxicated, had purchased a bottle of beer, dropped same outside store, wanted it replaced. Guard refused. Manager complied. Perp argued with guard, who requested he leave the premises. NYPD was refused. Petit Larceny 7/13, hardware, 544 Main St. Store owner informed officer that two unknown youths entered store, wanted to purchase Yu Gi Oh cards; complainant showed them two packs. The youths threw one package at store owner and they fled. He chased them southbound with negative results. Officer searched Island with the same results. 7/15, Manhattan Park pool, 40 River Rd. Female non-resident notified pool manager that her purse had been taken by unknown person from bench at women's locker room while she was getting dressed. Manager stopped three females who were in pool, checked their belongings with negative results. He checked premises with the same results. Female said she had US$60., cellular and credit card. Victim was going to 114th Pct. to report incident. PSD Sgt. checked pool area with negative results. 7/15, hardware, 544 Main St. Officer responded to store, where owner was standing with male perp, who was holding two videocassettes, which she had seen him take. Female stated it has not been the first time, but she did not want to press charges. Officer obtained perp's ID; a Sgt. from Goldwater notified. Animal Rescue 7/10, street, 2/4 River Rd. Security officer phoned PSD, stated he found an iguana at scene, which may have fallen out a window. The animal had three broken legs. Officer phoned Animal Care, which was closed, ultimately Duty Officer was informed that animal would have to remain on Roosevelt Island until Monday. Dispute 7/3, apt., 575 Main St. Officers responded to scene relating to dispute. Upon arrival perp #2 was in hallway, he separated from female, perp #1. Male retrieved his belongings and was escorted from apt. No injuries were incurred, both parties refused NYPD. Domestic Dispute 7/7, apt., 625 Main St. Female in-house, stated her spouse was verbally harassing her (an on- going situation.) NYPD responded, prepared 2nd Domestic Incident Report (1st one was on 6/11.) 7/9, apt., 510 Main St. Officer heard a dispute over scanner, two PSD officers and NYPD responded. A couple were engaged in dispute, arguing over the paternity of the woman's child. Male smelled of alcohol. Female said his name was not on lease. NYPD advised female to go to Domestic Court. 7/18, breezeway, 560 Main St. Anonymous female notified officer there was a dispute in progress at scene. Upon arrival officer observed male and female engaged in dispute. They refused NYPD. Officer advised them to go to Family Court. Matter to be referred to Y.O., since they have a toddler. Subsequently NYPD responded, officer advised the female to go to 114th Pct. for a D.I.R. to be written. 7/18, sidewalk, Main St. Female in-house to report a dispute with male (father of her son), which happened earlier. Both wanted to continue the dispute. Reporter refused NYPD and left premises. Elevator Malfunction 7/3, lobby/elev. #2, 580 Main St. Sgt. responded to scene for call of elevator out of order at scene, with four persons inside. RIHM notified, super responded, and, assisted the people out of elevator. Sgt. inquired if anybody needed, EMS, they all refused. Elevator was put out of service. Escort 7/7, apt., 546 Main St. Female in-house, said she wanted to have a friend removed from her apt. Officers responded to apt., escorted male out of premises, without incident. Found Property 7/6, 300 Main St. Tram employee in-house, gave Duty Officer a wallet with US$13, MetroCard, card that was left on Tram. Property was secured at PSD. 7/19, street, 560 Main St. Male stated he had found a cellular phone at scene, and that phone had rung, owner said he was a bus driver. He further stated he would subsequently retrieve phone at PSD. Phone was secured at PSD until owner's arrival. Graffiti 7/12, D, S stairwells, 510/516/536 Main St. Officers patrolling area observed graffiti on
these dates/locations: Hazardous Condition 7/4, street, 300 Main St. Officer on patrol noticed that "Z" bricks were loose and appeared to be dropping þ there is a metal grating surrounding the area. It seems the site is compromised. Officer placed a large barrier over grating. 7/9, st., opposite 694 Main St. Male phoned PSD, reported having seen a light pole with exposed wires at scene. Metal plate was loose. Officer repaired it temporarily with masking tape, cordoned off area. Investigation 7/1, apt., 40 River Rd. Officers responded to scene for report of dispute. Resident of apt. said her son was banging on the wall, she called PSD to teach him a lesson. 7/1, apt., 546 Main St. Male in-house, said he was lying in bed and heard unknown person by his door, then he saw person open his door with a key, and leave. No one form RIHM went to his apt. Sgt. notified resident RIHM would change lock, victim refused. 7/2, front of hardware, 544 Main St. Officer was approached by underage male, who was incoherent. NYPD was requested/responded, youth was escorted to 114th Pct. to continue the investigation. 7/9, rear of park, 500 Main St., child abuse. Female in-house, said she saw a male beating a boy approximately 10 years old; he picked up bicycle and threw it at the youth. Officers responded to scene canvassed area with negative results. 7/11, Blackwell House, 551 Main St. Concierge reported an alarm sounding at scene. Officers responded, checked windows/doors, they were locked and secured. There was no one in vicinity. 7/11, Motorgate, 688 Main St. Motorgate night supervisor phoned PSD regarding a female's driver's license that had been given to a PSD officer earlier. Ultimately the license was retrieved by U.S. Postal inspectors, from in front PSD at 552 Main St. and given to its owner. 7/12, apt., 560 Main St. Female in-house stated her underage daughter left apt. and did not return. This is an on-going situation. Reporter said ACS had called and notified her they were going to remove her to a facility for two months for evaluation. PSD prepared a flyer, officers searched the Island with negative results. NYPD responded, joined search. Mother and child entered PSD, youth appeared to be well. NYPD was notified. 7/14, laundry room, 540 Main St. Female in-house complained two youths had used her detergent without her permission; youths denied it. Female had not seen youths use her detergent. 7/14, apt., 580 Main St., custody case. Caseworker from a children's agency in-house, spoke with PSD Sgt and Youth Officer regarding two underage children who had run away to woman's apt. with whom they had been living, a resident of Roosevelt Island. Caseworker wanted to take children to their mother in Manhattan. 7/15, 36th Avenue Bridge, off-Island. Officers responded to scene for report of person photographing Keyspan plant; spoke with visitor from Massachusetts who had taken digital photos, which he showed the officer. Officer told the man to be careful where he takes photos. 7/16, apt., 575 Main St. Officers responded to scene for report of burglary. Upon arrival resident stated he had been away for a week, noticed lock was loose on the inside. It did not appear that anyone had been there, but lock had been in order when he left. Concierge would prepare work order. Officers advised resident that if he discovers anything missing he should call 911. 7/16, apt., 560 Main St. Female in-house, complained that intoxicated male banged on her door and threatened to kill her son. Victim has an Order of Protection against him. NYPD responded, prepared report, escorted victim to apt. NYPD searched area with negative results. 7/16, 5-D, 688 Main St. Female phoned PSD, reported her car missing. Officer searched area with victim with negative results, who stated car had been taken by her son without permission. She further stated she would wait until next day when her son returns, will contact PSD. She refused to supply son's information. 7/17, street, 694 Main St. Officer responded to scene, where female and her son were standing. Female complained that an unknown make/model and color vehicle had nearly struck her and her son and continued northbound. Officer took victim to search the area with negative results. She refused NYPD, EMS. 7/17, front of 560 Main St. Female in-house, reported past harassment. She stated an unknown male had threatened to kill her, and that she had filed a report with NYPD earlier, and further she said perp was at scene. Officers searched area with negative results. NYPD responded, but the complainant had already left. Lost Property 7/4, park south of 200 Main St. Male non-resident in-house stated he attended fireworks display, placed his wallet on chair, which he left on chair when display was over. Wallet contained US$60, Can.$80, Visa credit and Citibank debit cards. Update: Victim reported having had his wallet returned in good order. 7/5, Tram, 300 Main St. Male phoned PSD, reported having lost cellular phone valued at $75., while going home. 7/5, outside 750 Main St. Male in-house, stated he left his bicycle unsecured, unattended outside tennis courts. When he returned, the bicycle was missing. 7/6, F train to Manhattan, off-Island. Female resident notified PSD that in the morning she thinks she left her purse on the "F" train. Her husband called her, informed her that unknown person phoned him, stated he had her purse and agreed to meet with him at concierge's station at Rivercross, but person did not show. Later concierge informed resident that a man and a woman had come to the station but had left. Resident told concierge that if they returned, to take the package, obtain name/address and that he would contact them. Concierge did not know package was a lost purse, which contained approximately US$50, various credit/bank cards and miscellanous items. Officers conducted wide search with negative results, Transit Authority was notified. 7/6, near Gristede's, 686 Main St. Male in-house, stated he lost his wallet at scene, which contained NYS driver's license, SS card. 7/11, st., south of 501 Main St. Anonymous male surrendered a Blue Cross/Blue Shield card he had found on street at scene. Officer contacted doctor on Island, it belonged to a patient whom he would notify. Noise Complaint 7/1, apt., 540 Main St. RIHM Super in-house, reported he had received numerous complaints about excessive noise from an apt., and that dog was barking. Officer responded to scene, resident refused to open door. Property Damage 7/18, street, 250 Main St. RIOC employee notified PSD that a bus struck and knocked down light pole at scene. Officers responded, spoke with driver who stated he was backing up and struck the pole. Facilities supervisor at scene. Area cordoned off. Returned Property 7/16, card shop, 563 Main St. Officer responded to scene, male stated he had put his wallet on the counter and that unknown person(s) had taken same. When officer escorted complainant to his apt., his mother-in-law informed him that an anonymous person had returned his wallet. Complainant said nothing was missing. Smoke Condition 7/9, apt., 560 Main St. During these dates and locations, officers observed smoke conditions at these
locations: Theft of Service 7/14, front of 510 Main St. Anonymous male (taxi driver) notified officer that after dropping off a male at scene, he had fled without paying him the US$10. fare. Complainant refused to refused to file report because he would lose more money/time; he refused NYPD as well. Officer searched exterior of 510 Main and lobby with negative results. Unsecured Vehicle/Premises 7/1, street, opposite 750 Main St. Officers observed unsecured vehicle at scene, which apparently had been in an accident. Officer stayed at scene to safeguard vehicle. NYPD was contacted/responded. Owner notification was attempted by PSD officer, owner not home. 7/4, Motorgate 6-C, 688 Main St. Officer on patrol observed a vehicle with driver's door severely damaged. As a result of damaged door, vehicle could not be secured. Duty Officer and Motorgate attendant were notified. 7/9, Motorgate 2-B, 688 Main St. Unsecured vehicles/premises were seen by officers on
patrol during these dates/locations: Urinating in Public 7/19, rear of park, 500 Main St. Arrest. While on patrol, officers observed non-resident male urinating at scene; he was escorted to PSD, issued a "C" summons. Vehicle Accident 7/9, street, opposite 750 Main St. Officer responded to scene of vehicle accident. Victim notified officer she was driving south-bound when the A-frame broke. She lost control, struck light pole. FDNY at scene, victim refused medical attention. Vehicle was towed away. Water Leak 7/1, apt., 516 Main St. While officers were patrolling, water leaks occurred during these dates/locations: 7/5, apt., 546 Main St.
