RICLA Seeking Candidates
For Its Board of Directors

Roosevelt Island Community Literary Associates (RICLA) is seeking Island Residents who would be interested in serving on its Board of Directors.

Over a 20-year period, RICLA was responsible for creating and operating the Island’s Volunteer Library. In 1997, RICLA mounted a successful campaign to have the Library become a branch in the New York Public Library system. On June 13, 1998, that inclusion became official.

Three years later, assured of the successful NYPL operation of the local library, the RICLA Board decided to try its hand at funding other cultural activities on the Island. (RICLA is a 501c3 non-profit corporation.)

A shared funding program involving The Main Street Theatre and Dance Alliance, the Roosevelt Island Visual Artists Association, Roosevelt Island Toastmasters, the branch library, and The Main Street WIRE was carried out in 2003-2004. The RICLA Board was heartened by the positive results of that shared program, and is ready to move into a wider effort.

The existing RICLA Board is now seeking candidates for Board positions to replace persons whose terms of office have run out. Persons interested, or who know others who would be good RICLA Board members, are asked to provide a letter of that interest and a statement of background to the current Board President, David J. Bauer, at 531 Main Street.
