Here’s the thing about artists whose cameras generate bits and bytes and whose brushes are an ephemeral manipulation of the data: They get the best of all worlds to work with. The camera records a reality that may lack something, but no matter. A sky from here, a farmhouse from there, and the idealized has become real, within eye’s reach.
