PS/IS 217’s Penny Harvest continues through Wednesday (November 22). Canisters are available at various spots on the Island. The sponsor, Common Cents New York, aims to give kids a sense of the need for meaningful contributions to society. This is the program’s eleventh year.

The Daily News reports that PS/IS 217 has the City’s most crowded classroom – 7th grade, with 40 students in a room.
