Subway Diversion, Other Briefs... The Q will replace the F this weekend for subway travel between 21st Street/Queensbridge and 63rd/Lex, including Roosevelt Island. The Q will otherwise run its normal route, meeting up with the F train at 34th Street in Manhattan and Roosevelt Avenue in Queens. Tramway service is expected to be normal. (When Roosevelt Island-bound, if you find yourself passing unfamiliar stations on the F, just hang on til you reach Roosevelt Avenue, then cross over to get an inbound Q, not an F.) These changes are in effect from 12:01 a.m. today (Saturday, January 27) through 5:00 a.m. Monday. There will also be MTA shuttle-bus service between the stations at Queens Plaza and 21st Street/Queensbridge. (Note: A conflicting MTA advisory has the Q and F changes in effect only 8:00 to 4:00 on Saturday and Sunday.) Starting Monday, Social Security matters for Roosevelt Islanders will be handled by a Manhattan office at 755 Second Avenue (at 41st Street) rather than the Astoria office. The phone there is 800-772-1213. State Senator Josι Serrano plans a Mitchell-Lama Housing Forum here for Thursday, February 8, at 7:30, at Good Shepherd Community Center. A variety of organizations and agencies have been invited. Its a panel and Q&A format |
