More streetlights are dark now than two weeks ago. A full 28.7% are non-working now, including a dozen that were OK January 10, when The WIRE’s last survey was conducted (the score then – 27% out). Since mid-October, when the survey started, 45 lights north of the Queensboro Bridge have never worked. South of the bridge, 20 have never worked. Many newly installed lights have yet to work. And many of the new lighted bollards (below) installed along the service road between the subway station and Meditation Lawn are off, as well.
