There’s a championship swimming event this morning
at the Sportspark, open to all Islanders, sponsored by the Marlins Swim
Team.
Micah Kellner
is picking up steam in his campaign for the County
Democratic Committee’s nod as the party’s candidate to replace
Assemblymember Pete Grannis. Kellner has been endorsed by City Councilmember
Jessica Lappin (who represents Roosevelt Island), Congresswoman Carolyn
Maloney, City Councilmember Dan Garodnick, Assemblymember Jonathan Bing, and
Barry Klein, who had announced his interest but has now dropped out. Nothing
will happen until the State Senate confirms Grannis as Commissioner of the
Department of Environmental Conservation, he resigns his Assembly seat, and the Governor calls for an
election.
