• A Benefit Concert is scheduled for 7:30 Friday night (June 22) in Good Shepherd Community Center to benefit Matthew Russell and in memory of Robin Russell, the founder of River Music and the Island Arts Music School. Music will include Ravel’s Duo for Violin and Cello, Mozart’s String Quintet in C Major, and Bill Evans’s Peace Piece.

• Mayor Michael Bloomberg came to Roosevelt Island Monday to throw a ceremonial switch on the Roosevelt Island Tidal Energy Project and herald a "new wave" (get it?) of clean energy coming to New York City.
