Island House resident Dharmapala Gyatso has created a children’s book, called Things Big Island Adventure, with the Island as the setting.

"The main character is Thing," Gyatso says. "He is on an adventure around Roosevelt Island. He arrives by way of Tram and bus to visit the Art Gallery, church, lighthouse, and much more." The illustrations are in color, by the author (see them in color on Website NYC10044 at nyc10044.com). "The book is intended for ages 0 to 6." Gyatso had them for sale at the "Authors Project" table at Fall for Arts two weeks ago.

Gyatso and his wife and four-year-old daughter and have been expecting a new reader in the family.
